Forbidden and hated names in islam

Several prophetic texts have been received indicating the prohibition of certain names, and the Fuqaha ‘ have cited the proscription of a group of names for violating Islamic law, such as the following:

  • The prohibition of naming the names of Allah-the almighty-or his own qualities, and all that is appropriate only by the names, attributes or otherwise, such as naming the creator, the Merciful, the holy, the dear, the King of Kings, the referee, the sun, the person, the righteous, the arrogant or the righteous, and the Forbade naming by such names of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), where he narrated Abu Huraira-May Allah be pleased with him- Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said, “The most awful name in Allah’s sight on the Day of Resurrection, will be (that of) a man calling himself Malik Al-Amlak (the king of kings).

  • Names that may not be called by the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), since some attributes are of his own and may not be named in them, one of them was named the master of Adam children`s, the master of the people or so.

  • The names in which slavery is added to other than Allah Almighty, such as: ‘ Abd al-Nabi, ‘ Abd al-Rasoul, ‘ Abd al-Izzi, ‘ Abd al-Ka’bah, ‘ Abd al-Hussein, ‘ Abd al-Dar, ‘ Abd ‘ Ali,

    Abd means slave or servant

  • The names that are famous for the idols that are worshiped or worshipped by the polytheists of Allaah, such as: Lat and Izzi (famous status that people used to worship in the past).

  • The names of demons and the jinn, such as: Satan, KHANB, Satan and Diet.

  • There are several names that hate naming them and some of those names are expressly forbidden, for example, in the hadith narrated by the son of Abdul Barr about the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), where he said: The Prophet (ﷺ) said: Call yourselves by the names of the Prophets. The names dearest to Allah are Abdullah and AbdurRahman, the truest are Harith and Hammam, and the worst are Harb and Murrah.

  • The names that evoke lust, or which are in the name of a thing of the Mollusa which indicates and signify sedition.

  • Names that indicate sins and bad things.

  • The names of the animals and insects that are being surveyed, such as: Donkey, monkey, etc.
